Infurmaziuns biograficas
Eleanor Sawyer Chase was born in Oshkosh, WI on March 3, 1903, the daughter of Charles Curry Chase and Nia Sawyer Chase. Her sisters were Jewell and Charlotte Chase. She attended Mount Vernon Seminary and graduated at the age of 16. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1921. She began working for a publishing company in New York City. She frequently returned to Oshkosh and the families winter home at Palm Beach, FL. During the 1920s she became a best selling novelist. She met Swiss architect Maurice Fatio while he was working in Palm Beach and they married five years later on July 22, 1929. The couple had two children: Maurice Pierre "Petey" Fatio, born December 12, 1930 (died 1961 of cancer); and Alexandra Fatio Taylor, born May 27, 1932. Her husband Maurice died at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, IL from a lung tumor on December 2, 1943. Eleanor died October 21, 1944 in Milwaukee.
