MALL, Philip

Soprano saxophone, Tenor saxophone

Schulen in Basel und Schiers GR, Lehre als Zahntechniker. Zuerst autodidaktisch Saxophon, dann an der Musikakademie Zürich bei Urs Schoch, Berufsschule der Swiss Jazz School Bern mit Diplom 1985.

Längerer Aufenthalt in Bali, Beschäftigung mit Gamelanmusik. Seit Mitte der Achtzigerjahre Auftritte mit fast allen bekannten Musikern der Schweiz. Bands mit Harald Haerter, JoJo Mayer, Dave Doran, Stephan Rigert, Vince Benedetti Big Band etc. Leitete von 1988-91 eigene Bands wie The Insects oder Acustic Art Trio mit Musikern aus der damaligen DDR. 1988-96 Leitung der Funk/HipHop/Soul-Band "Head to Toe", 1998 der Band "Lost & Found" im Bereich Drum & Bass. Komponierte für Tanzproduktionen und Werbeclips. Seit 2001 Philippe Mall Jazzquartet und Grossformation "Paradigmaorchester" mit 13 Musikern inkl. Streichquartett mit Musik im Bereich der Jazz-Minimalmusic.

Seit 1986 Lehrer an der Jazzschule/Hochschule für Musik Zürich, 1990-93 auch an der Jazzschule Luzern.
