MALL-DARBY, Samira

Dancer choreographer, Dance Teacher.

Education at "New York Univ. School of the Arts ", Boston Conservatory of Music, BFA in Dance and Musical Theater 1978.

Mall-Darby works as a singer, dancer, choreographer and as a moderator in different TV, Music and/or Theater Projects in America, Europe and Africa. She was a member of the Connecticut Opera's "Porgy and Bess " ensemble and was a member in "The Martha Graham Repertory Dance Co." in NYC, The "Movers" and YNO Dance Theater in Zürich. Creator of the workshop "I Sing The Body", Courses in Vocal and Body Work.

Various Jazz concerts with such Swiss Artists as Heiri Känzig, Chistoph Baumann, Christoph Stiefel, Roberto Bosshard. She was a member of the choir of Celine Dion, and had a "Carte Blanche" for Zurich Jazz Festival 1996 with her new band "Open Sky". She choreographed, produced, composed (together with Philippe Mall), the Musical Production "The Thorn Tree Bride" in the Depot Hardturm, Zürich 1996. Since 1996 she is a member of "Three Voices and a Bass" vocal jazz ensemble led by Marianne Racine. Since 1998 she has her own Band "Open Sky", since 2005 "Urban Flower" both bands move within the styles of Jazz, World and Groove music. She is also a member of "Head to Toe", one of the first Funk and Fusion Bands in Zürich 1988 -1995. She is teaching Jazz Vocals at the Jazzschule in St. Gallen. In 2004 she was on an american tour with "Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir", a vocal and percussion Roots and Gospel ensemble from Oakland California.
