Compact Cassette (MC)
The Compact Cassette, also commonly called Musicassette, hence the MC acronym, is probably the most democratic expression of music playback. In many, especially non-industrialized countries the Compact Cassette is still one of the main items of record sales. Philips proposed the first MC on the market in 1963, and already the following year commercial MCs began to circulate. Not to forget is the double nature of the MC: its ease of use as a recording medium, and in particular its low cost, made it possible even to the public at large to walk the path of sound recording.
